ACTRIS Cloud Remote Sensing Workshop Oct. 2023
On October 26, CCRES held a workshop for the Cloud Remote Sensing community in Heraklion, during the ACTRIS Week.
Around 50 persons from 17 different countries attended this workshop, in hybrid mode. 10 National Facilities were represented, enabling a fruitful sharing of feedback on the labelling process. New services to the community were presented and demonstrated.

1st CCWaC Workshop (virtual)
The Center for Cloud Water Chemistry (CCWaC) is pleased to invite you for the first dedicated workshop on cloud water sampling and chemical analysis. The workshop will be held as an online Zoom meeting on

- Preparation of a second intercomparison under warm cloud conditions in autumn 2023
- Announcement of an interlaboratory comparison regarding chemical analyses in 2024

- Discussion of technical requirements for ACTRIS cloud composition variables
- Discussion of the instrument schema for the ACTRIS database

ACTRIS NOx/VOC QA workshop 2023

ACTRIS Cloud In Situ: Center for Cloud Ice Nucleation Workshop
The Center for Cloud Ice Nucleation (CCIce) of the Topical Centre for Cloud In Situ Measurements (CIS) organizes a workshop for Ice Nucleating Particle (INP) measurements within ACTRIS. The workshop will takes place virtually in the morning hours of the 15th and 16th November 2022.
Any members of the CCIce and CIS community are invited to participate. Please contact Larissa Lacher (larissa.lacher@kit.edu) or Kristina Höhler (kristina.hoehler@kit.edu) for registration.
Focus of the workshop will be:
- Update on the technical requirements for the NFs

ACTRIS Cloud Remote Sensing Workshop Nov. 2022
ACTRIS Centre for Cloud Remote Sensing (CCRES) organized a workshop on 14 and 15 November 2022. The workshop was held physically at the SIRTA Atmospheric Observatory, Ecole polytechnique, Palaiseau, France.
Principal Investigators of the National Facilities were invited to participate, as well as any member of the cloud remote sensing community.
Here are some of the sessions:
- New calibration transfer methodology for different radar frequencies, Felipe Toledo
- Status update of the Cloudnet data portal, Simo Tukiainen
- Boundary layer characterization based on stability and turbulence measurements, Andrea Burgos-Cuevas, Tobias Marke
- Operational 3D-wind retrievals from scanning Doppler lidar and Doppler cloud radar, Bernhard Pospichal
- Overview and plans towards implementation of MWR processing, Tobias Marke
A hands-on training was proposed on Doppler cloud radar, weather station and disdrometers. It was provided by Jean-Charles Dupont, Lukas Pfitzenmaier, Gionata Ghiggi, Marc Schleiss, Marc-Antoine Drouin and Antoine Gibek. Here are the themes that were addressed during this training:
- The requirements on the set-up and acquisition,
- Raw data formatting into netcdf,
- Z-DD processing and Doppler cloud radar calibration constant monitoring,
- Quicklooks, alerts and flag for NF.

ACTRIS-CCRES microwave radiometer workshop
The University of Cologne is organizing a workshop on ground-based microwave radiometer operation at Jülich (Germany) from 31 August to 2 September 2022. This workshop is organized in the frame of the ACTRIS Centre for Cloud Remote Sensing (CCRES), with the support of the PROBE COST Action.
We are inviting scientists and operators of microwave radiometers in networks, such as the ACTRIS Cloud Remote Sensing network (Cloudnet), E-Profile, and others. The workshop is also open to interested people beyond these networks, especially via the PROBE COST action.
