We are pleased to announce that CCRES will be organizing two RPG cloud radar training sessions in March and April 2025, dedicated to chirp table programs :

  • SESSION 1: Training

A first session on March 5, (9am-1pm CET) will be dedicated to first explain the meaning of all the parameters of the chirp table and their implications. A chirp table program report will be sent prior to the session, to allow participants to share questions during the training. There will be enough room for questions/answers.

For the second part of the training, a chirp table program for vertical profiling of the atmosphere will be built interactively with the participants. Before, measurement objectives will be defined in collaboration with the participants.

  • SESSION 2: Follow-up meeting

A second session on April 2, (9am-1pm CEST) will allow a follow-up meeting to take place, so that participants can share questions and remarks after the first session.

Registrations are open through the following form until February 10 : https://forms.gle/8DTWFWAS51GPrUgr8

ACTRIS CiGas Community Workshop 2024: Advancing Collaboration and Data Excellence

Matera, Italy – November 7, 2024

The ACTRIS CiGas Community Workshop 2024, held during the ACTRIS week 2024 in Matera, Italy, brought together representative from the National Facilities of the ACTRIS Centre for Reactive Trace Gases In Situ Measurements (CiGas) and CiGas unit heads. This hybrid event, accessible both in-person and online, provided an opportunity to share updates, foster collaboration, and advance data management practices in the CiGas community.

With the ever-growing importance of high-quality atmospheric data in addressing global environmental challenges, this workshop provided a platform for participants to share updates, exchange ideas, and discuss the implementation of methodologies.

Attendees explored strategies to enhance the reliability and accessibility of observational data, with a strong focus on fostering transparency, inclusivity, and collaboration within the atmospheric research community.

The program featured a lineup of speakers and sessions, covering topics from data portal advancements to instrument auditing and database development.

These discussions underscored the community's collective commitment to advancing data quality standards and ensuring the utility of atmospheric observations in scientific and policy contexts.

CARS and ARES invite the Principal Investigators of the aerosol remote sensing facilities to discuss the status of the lidar QA/QC. The workshop is organized online, 9-12 December 2024. Each lidar has a dedicated 30 minutes time slot to clarify aspects related to performances of the instrument as identified through the QA tests, specifics and validity time period of the operational configurations, and data processing with the SCC.

Details about the format of the workshop are distributed via the aerosol remote sensing mailing list. Please contact Doina Nicolae (nnicol@inoe.ro) for additional information.

ACTRIS Aerosol Remote Sensing Workshop November 2024

ACTRIS Center for Aerosol Remote Sensing (CARS) and the Aerosol Remote Sensing unit of the ACTRIS Data Centre (ARES) organize a joint workshop on 7th November 2024, as part of the ACTRIS Week. The workshop is organized in hybrid format, however, we encourage the community to join us physically in Matera, Italy.

The focus of the workshop is on the global perspective of our work, operations, quality assurance and data products. A joint session with the cloud remote sensing community is planned at the end of the day, focusing on the EarthCARE Cal/Val pilot, as well as on the future development of synergy products based on aerosol and cloud remote sensing instrumentation. ACTRIS aerosol and clouds remote sensing teams and their collaborators are welcome to join. Please register via the ACTRIS Week registration platform by selecting the appropriate form of participation under "CARS-ARES (aerosol remote sensing) workshop, Thu Nov 7".

Registration is open by 4th October 2024.

The third cloud water collector intercomparison campaign (CCWaC INT III) will take place between 05. - 23. August at the Sonnblick Observatory (SBO). Different types and designs of collectors from several NFs will be installed on the measurement plattform of the SBO (>3100 m) to simultaneously collect cloud water. All samples will be analyzed after the campaign for their chemical composition in the CCWaC laboratories at TROPOS to determine the comparability of the different collector designs. Results from this campaign will be discussed in future CCWaC Workshops and the findings will be considered to update the measurent guidelines for ACTRIS cloud water chemical composition variables. The campaign is combined with ECCINTs 2nd Cloud In Situ Intercomparison campaign for LWC.
