Training School “Above the Clouds” at Izaña Atmospheric Research Center

The HARMONIA COST Action successfully organised the training school “Above the Clouds”, which took place at the Izaña Atmospheric Research Center in Tenerife, Spain, from 26 to 28 May 2025. The event brought together a vibrant group of international participants, including undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD, and postdoctoral researchers, offering a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge atmospheric science in a high-altitude environment.

Main activities of the Training School:

• In-depth introduction to ACTRIS-related aerosol instrumentation
• Hands-on sessions with in situ and remote sensing measurement systems
• Field practices using CIMEL photometers and low-cost sensors such as Calitoo
• Scientific talks delivered by experienced researchers working in atmospheric composition

The Izaña site, a core ACTRIS Observational Platform, provided a perfect setting for participants to become familiar with state-of-the-art atmospheric measurement techniques. The training also offered a valuable chance to connect with scientists active in long-term atmospheric monitoring and research infrastructure development.
