Hands-on training on aerosol lidar measurement quality assurance procedures and tools
ACTRIS Centre for Aerosol Remote Sensing (CARS) and PROBE CA18235 invite scientists working in the field of aerosol high-power lidars to a training school entitled the "Hands-on training on aerosol lidar measurement quality assurance procedures and tools". The three-days hands-on training session focuses on quality assurance procedures for aerosol lidar measurements, using specific hardware tests and the ATLAS tool (Automated Lidar Analysis Software).
Format: The event will be organized in hybrid format, however only theoretical sessions may be followed online.
Registration: Please register at http://carport.inoe.ro/forms/index.php/881827?lang=en by 2nd of May 2023. The workshop is free of charge.

ACTRIS Cloud Remote Sensing Training School in LMU (Munich)
The event will take place from September 2 to 5, at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich.
Due to capacity constraints, the training school will accomodate a maximum of 40 participants. Priority will be given to Cloud Remote Sensing National Facilities and open to PhD students/researchers/expert scientists….
A draft program for the week is currently underway, including lectures and hands-on sessions. Morning sessions would host lecturers from CCRES/CLU and external for theoretical classes, while afternoons would be dedicated to hands-on/group work. All sessions will be on-site only. Topics covered will include CCRES services, instrument calibration, quality control, CloudNet products, Cal/Val, scientific applications, Cloud properties, etc.
Please do not hesitate to send suggestions for topics or proposals for leading such a session, or use this form if you haven't already done so.
More information will be published through this page.

Data Flagging Workshop
Data Flagging Workshop (Online)
The ACTRIS CiGas Data Flagging Workshop took place on 24 of January 2025.
The aim of the workshop was to discuss and harmonize the definition of local events for VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) data submission.
A new draft guideline for data flagging was presented, along with practical examples of different local events. There was a lively discussion on the use and application of different flags among the 53 participants.
The discussion will be continued at the CiGas Data QA/QC online workshop which will take place from April 7th to 9th 2025.
Registration is already open:

ATMO-ACCESS MOOC | An Online Course on Atmospheric Science
In this online course, scientists depict the issues of air pollution and climate change. They explain the importance of atmospheric research and the workflow of three key Research Infrastructures: ACTRIS, IAGOS and ICOS.
The course starts on Jan 20, 2025, while registrations are open from December 2, 2024.
Training sessions on RPG Cloud Radar (online)
We are pleased to announce that CCRES will be organizing two RPG cloud radar training sessions in March and April 2025, dedicated to chirp table programs :
- SESSION 1: Training
A first session on March 5, (9am-1pm CET) will be dedicated to first explain the meaning of all the parameters of the chirp table and their implications. A chirp table program report will be sent prior to the session, to allow participants to share questions during the training. There will be enough room for questions/answers.
For the second part of the training, a chirp table program for vertical profiling of the atmosphere will be built interactively with the participants. Before, measurement objectives will be defined in collaboration with the participants.
- SESSION 2: Follow-up meeting
A second session on April 2, (9am-1pm CEST) will allow a follow-up meeting to take place, so that participants can share questions and remarks after the first session.
Registrations are open through the following form until February 10 : https://forms.gle/8DTWFWAS51GPrUgr8
