In the last years, UNINA (Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II) has actively collaborated with the SMEs ALA srl and Bright Solutions for the upgrading of its lidar system and ACTRIS observational site.

The Advanced Lidar Applications (ALA) S.r.l. was born in 2012 and incorporated as spin-off company of UNINA and the Italian National Research Council. ALA goal is to make compact, transportable, easy to use but really accurate lidar devices and to make available its experience for measurement campaign.

Bright Solutions S.r.l. was founded in 1998 by a group of laser scientists and industry experts with a thorough experience in diode-pumped solid-state laser engineering.

There is an agreement between the Department of Physics of UNINA and ALA for the development and use of the software developed by ALA for the analysis of the microphysical and optical properties of atmospheric aerosol retrieved by lidar measurements. Moreover, common scientific and technological projects have been developed together and UNINA received assistance for the upgrading of elements of the lidar system. With Bright Solutions there is a long-standing connection for defining the specification of laser systems for lidar systems.
